The painting, now called 'La Parisienne, ' is considered as a fashion painting. It was intended as a 'character type' portrait…. 'Youthful, dressed in the latest fashions,with an air of independence.' A year after this painting was first seen at the Impressionist Exhibition in 1874. The dress opposite was worn at St Elvan's Church. .
Valentines Day Marriage.
Marriage between Eleanor Phillips and David Edward Reece of Aberaman took place on the 14th of February at St Elvan's Church. The Wedding dress below (which is now in St Fagan's Museum) is similar in style to 'Renoir's blue lady. It is made from blue striped silk.
